The performance at lunch on November 4 featured some of this year’s seniors in a short scene, written by one of the seniors, Violet Helfrich. The script connects with the theme that the seniors have this year. They put together the set, costumes, and makeup, which all looked great. They even used a smoke machine. It was a really fun performance to watch and be a part of, especially at the end when they all went into a “state of rage” and jumped off stage into the crowd.
Over the summer, 11 students began meeting and rehearsing to form North Pointe’s very first a cappella group – a group of singers that recreate pop songs without the use of any instrumentation. Today, these students had their first performance on the courtyard stage during lunches. Their peers listened to arrangements of Royals, If I Die Young by The Band Perry (featuring senior Kyra Hobaica), and I Need Your Love (featuring senior Violet Helfrich). They have put countless hours of practice into preparing for this first performance, and have learned a lot about how to sing in such a challenging group along the way. Director Megan Goodman is thrilled by their debut performance, and is confident that they will continue to improve as the year goes on!
