Under Arrest had the opportunity to perform as the halftime entertainment for the Varsity Women’s basketball game on Friday, January 15th. They treated the audience to their rendition of Pentatonix’sDaft Punk, as well as a new arrangement of Sugar We’re Goin’ Down by Fall Out Boy, which featured junior Seth Villaescusa as the lead vocalist — all without the use of any instrumentation other than their voices. Director Megan Goodman says, “I’m so very proud of this group of students…they started off this school year not knowing ANYTHING about how to sing in an a cappella group, and have worked so hard to get to the point they’re at now, able to perform for an audience and rocking it!!”
Under Arrest is North Pointe’s very first a cappella group, now in its second semester of existence. On February 10th, the 10 students of the ensemble had the opportunity to travel to ASU to work with their all-female a cappella group, The Pitchforks. After performing for North Pointe, the ladies of the Pitchforks spent several hours working with the students on balance and blend, teaching them how to sound like instruments, and even had all of the students learning how to beatbox! North Pointe was able to perform for the Pitchforks and get feedback and critique. The students had a great time working with ASU, and gained so much valuable information about how to work together as a group and how to trust and depend on each other musically!
