HS A Capella at Herberger Theater

On Sunday, February 26th, the A Cappella group performed at the Herberger Theater for the Downtown Phoenix monthly open mic night.  The program was filled with various acts of poetry, comedy, and music from all ages, and the audience was very receptive to the group’s performance. They began with a rendition of Crazy in Love (originally performed by Beyonce) featuring junior Thiara Febres, and freshman Maya Ferrara capped the night off with a stellar performance of Pink’s Glitter in the Air.  Freshman Hailie De La Rosa made her beatboxing debut with the group as well.

Director Megan Goodman was once again very pleased with the performance.  “The group has really unified over the past several weeks and has developed a signature sound.  As a director, it’s always incredibly rewarding when you can just sit back and enjoy the performance, and the students really proved tonight that they are making huge strides in a positive direction.  Every week, every rehearsal seems to make them better and better performers!”

HS A Cappella at Tempe Center for the Arts

On Wednesday, February 15th, the A Cappella group had their debut performance of the semester at Tempe Center for the Arts.  The group performed the song “Glitter in the Air”, originally sung by Pink, and featured freshman Maya Ferrara as the lead vocalist.  The crowd was very enthusiastic and responsive to the performance! Director Megan Goodman was very pleased with the performance and the turn out for the open mic night.  “This group has had quite a few setbacks this semester leading up to this performance, but despite everything working against them, they have pulled together and worked really hard for this night! All that work is paying off, and it’s exciting to think about what they will be able to accomplish for the rest of the semester!”

A Cappella at Tempe Center for the Arts

On Wednesday, Nov. 16th, North Pointe A Cappella performed at the Tempe Center for the Arts youth open mic night.  Seniors Seth Villaescusa and Phoenix Briggs were featured in the two numbers the group performed, “The Kill” by Thirty Seconds to Mars, and “Light in the Hallway”, an original by the group Pentatonix.  Director Megan Goodman commented, “This group is finally at a point where they can sing as an ensemble, trust each other, and work together.  It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to this point, but what a difference it makes in their sound!

A Cappella at Arizona State Fair

October 23, 2016

On Sunday, the North Pointe A Cappella group had the opportunity to perform at the AZ State Fair.  This was the group’s longest performance set to date, and by far their biggest performance venue of the year.  The group covered bands such as Florence and the Machine, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Adele, and Pentatonic, and featured lead performances from Emily Morgan Henderson, Seth Villaescusa, and Phoenix Briggs. Director Megan Goodman was pleased with how the group performed at such a big event.  “There were a lot of potential setbacks to our performance today, and the students did a fantastic job of rolling with the punches. Ultimately, they did what they do best – they sang their hearts out and showed the audience that they love what they do!”

A Cappella at Phoenix Center for Arts

On Sunday night, North Pointe’s A Cappella group had their first performance of the season.  The group traveled to Infuse Open Mic night at Phoenix Center for the Arts to perform two of their songs for the audience.  They led the night off with an a cappella rendition of Adele’s Send My Love, and followed that up with a dramatic performance of a Florence and the Machine song, Over the Love, featuring junior Emily Morgan Henderson on vocals and Joseph Perez on vocal percussion.  The audience absolutely loved the group, and the host said they were welcome back any time!! Director Megan Goodman was thrilled with the debut performance of this year’s group. “For this being the first performance after only a few weeks of rehearsal, they did an amazing job!! I honestly can’t wait to see where this group will go this year!”
