Fall Arts Festival – Jr. High Theatre

On Monday night the Jr. High Theatre classes performed for their families at the Fall Arts Festival.  The students have been learning about different performance styles in class this semester and most recently have been studying spoken word poetry.  For their performance they performed pop songs in the style of spoken word poetry.  Most notable was Team 1 from 2nd hour which included, Hope Carney, Lyncoln Carbajal, Christin Cedillo, Erik Estrada Garcia, Morgan Page, and Vanessa Sempoalt in their performance of Stand By Me and Team 2 from 4th hour which included  Samantha Bricker, Kiera Carpenter, Jocelyn Dean, Susana Hinojos, Vanessa Lopez Rodriguez, and Cheyenne John for their creative performance of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Director Katie Gardea said, “It was really fun to see each group put their own spin on a pop song and explore the style of spoken word poetry. The results were very creative and interesting.”
