The Prep’s Speech and Debate team brought home some awards from the 17th Annual Bobcat, Bonanza after competing against 53 schools with over 1300 entries. This years big winners were Sophomore, Kaitlyn Kief, who finished second in Poetry Interpretation, 6th in Congressional Debate, and was a semi-finalists in Duo Interpretation with partner Daniel Mena, Junior Amy Lavelle, who finished 5th in Congressional Debate and 6th in Prose Interpretation, and Senior Alex Haw who finished 3rd in Programmed Oral Interpretation.
“This tournament had the largest speech entries of the year and I am very proud of how our team finished,”said Coach LeAnn Richards. “This is usually the toughest tournament to win in speech events, and our students held their own against the biggest schools in the state; I couldn’t be prouder of their performances,” added Richards.
