HS Speech & Debate at Jim Fountain Classic at McClintock HS

Congratulations to Vincent Jasso and Kaitlyn Kief for capturing the Prep’s Speech and Debate Team’s  first championships at McClintock Speech and Debate tournament. Junior, Vincent Jasso, won the event championship in Congressional Debate and  sophomore, Kaitlyn Kief added an event championship in Poetry Interpretation. “ Its nice to see the underclassmen, stepping it up and winning events so early in the season,” said Coach Richards. “ I am so proud of their hard work thus far,” she added. While the event championships were something to celebrate, the awards won by the Prep’s newest novice members, shows that the future is going to be spectacular. “ It was so impressive to see the novice members excited about competition and watching them gain in confidence is so exciting,” said Richards. The most impressive novice performance was turned in by Adalila Machic-Huitzil who double placed in her events; she placed 3rd in Novice Impromptu Speaking and 4th in Humorous( this was against varsity competitors). “ I am very proud of how this very young team is handling the pressure of competition,” said Richards. “ The future looks very bright for the North Pointe Speech and Debate team,” she added.
